How Pool Betting Works
Pool betting combines all wagers into a shared pool. Final returns are determined after the pool closes, in accordance with the applicable betting rules. Unlike fixed-odds betting, the exact return is not known at the time of placing your bet.
In pool betting (pari-mutuel), all stakes on the same market are combined into a shared pool. After the event, the pool is distributed among winning participants in proportion to their stakes.
When you place a bet, your stake enters a pool shared with all other participants who bet on the same market. The total pool size grows as more bets are placed.
Odds shown before the pool closes are indicative estimates based on current pool activity. Final odds are confirmed only after the pool closes and the result is verified.
After the result is confirmed, the net pool (after any applicable deductions) is distributed among winning participants relative to their share of the winning stakes.
Returns in pool betting are variable and depend on the total pool size, the number of winners, and the size of winning stakes. There are no guaranteed returns.
